4 Beetroots (cut into cubes)
1 Onion (small) (cut into cubes)
2 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
4 tbsp Oil
A pinch Turmeric powder
1 tbsp Chilli powder (optional)
Salt as required
1 small stick Cinnamon (Karugapatta)
2 Cloves (Grambu)
2 Cardamom (Elakka)
A handful fresh coconut powder
1 tbsp Garam masala powder
Grind beetroot and onion separately in a mixer grinder.
-> Do not grind them into a paste.
Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
Add cloves, cardamom and cinnamon stick.
Add the coarsely ground beetroot and onion.
Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and ginger-garlic paste.
Fry it on a medium flame for about 15 mins.
Add coconut powder and fry, until the raw smell is gone.
Add garam masala powder and stir well.
Remove from the flame.
